ICT in the Gold Coast Region

The ICT Industry is a significant driver of Gold Coast City's growing economy with a wide range of small to medium enterprises, and a number of large national and multi-national companies.

Gold Coast City has many strategic advantages for Information and Communication Technology firms, including lower industrial and leasing costs, lower labour costs. sophisticated infrastructure and dedicated learning institutions.

Gold Coast City has a growing knowledge base strengthened by the presence of four universities, several research centres and a number of internationally recognised training institutions.

Our four world-class universities produce a motivated and creative pool of IT and business students. with a diverse range of capabilities.

Bond University students graduate with ICT and multimedia qualifications, in the areas of computer game development, information systems and software development. Griffith University graduates specialise in software engineering, artificial intelligence, enterprise architecture and multimedia.

Gold Coast City is also serviced by Southern Cross University and Central Queensland University, who offer a range of leT related programs. Seven other university campuses across South East Queensland are within commuting distance to Gold Coast City, providing an even larger pool of labour resources.

Gold Coast City ICT businesses are assisted by the support of the Gold Coast Innovation Centre. Located within the campus of Griffith University, the centre provides physical and virtual business incubation and mentoring services to support new and emerging businesses across a range of knowledge-based industries. International trade and partnering is a key element to the success of our local lCT industry. Gold Coast City has a broad range of established exporters, and a growing number of export ready bUSinesses looking to integrate international trade into their business.

BusinessGC works with Austrade to deliver the Tradestart program to Gold Coast City ICT businesses. The program provides a number of export services, including advice on exporting to the most beneficial markets. and access to Austrade's network In more than 60 countries.

IT and Multimedia companies in Gold Coast City benefit from the city's geographic location.
